Building GIS Capacity for Land and Water Data Management and Decision Support in Somaliland
The Information Management Center (IMC) for Water and Land, with technical support from FAO SWALIM, conducted an Intermediate GIS Training for Land and Water Data Management, Planning, and Decision Support from 1–6 September 2026. The training focused on strengthening participants’ practical GIS capabilities and enhancing the use of geospatial information for land and water data management, spatial planning, analysis, and evidence-based decision-making. Through intermediate-level GIS training, the initiative contributes to building stronger institutional capacity to manage and utilize geospatial data in support of sustainable land and water resource management in Somaliland. The training forms part of continued efforts to strengthen the application of data and geospatial technologies for informed planning, natural resource management, and resilience-building.
