The Information Management Center for Water and Land (IMC), in collaboration with FAO SWALIM, has released the Gu Seasonal Performance Report (March-May 2026), providing an assessment of seasonal rainfall, vegetation conditions, drought status, and the climate outlook for the upcoming Hagaa (June-September) season. The report shows that the Gu season was characterized by mixed rainfall performance, with spatial variability across Somaliland. While many areas experienced favorable rainfall and near-normal vegetation conditions, localized drought hotspots persisted, particularly in parts of Sanaag and northern coastal areas. The report also presents the Hagaa seasonal outlook, indicating a likelihood of below-normal rainfall in several regions, coupled with above-normal temperatures, highlighting the need for strengthened early warning, drought preparedness, and climate-informed planning.
