“GU Seasonal Performance, Hagaa Outlook and Implications for Somaliland”, issued on 13 July 2025, which highlights that the Gu 2025 seasonal performance was marked by late onset and uneven rainfall, with stations such as Balidhiig and Taysa recording significantly higher rainfall while others like Berbera, Zaila, and Gargaara received minimal amounts, vegetation conditions (NDVI) remained broadly normal with improvements in Borama and Gabiley, although localized declines were noted in Burco and Odwayne. Drought severity (CDI) intensified in Awdal and Sanaag regions through March to May 2025, while central and southeastern areas remained largely stable. Hagaa 2025 outlook forecasts above-normal rainfall and above-average temperatures across most of Somaliland, with cooler conditions likely in northwestern coastal zones.
