Installation Report: Deployment of 10 Groundwater Monitoring Devices in Somaliland

ABOUT MISSION: FAO SWALIM, IMC and MoWRD are joining forces to address the impacts of drought through enhanced groundwater resources monitoring in Somaliland, and installing 10 Groundwater (GW) station across Somaliland. This collaborative effort aims to bolster water management strategies, fostering resilience and sustainability in the face of drought and water shortage challenges that communities go through always.

Dry conditions are forecast across much of Somaliland, with localized light and moderate rainfall expected in parts of in southern parts of Laascanod, eastern parts of Taleex, Southern parts of Hargeisa, southern parts of Burco and Oodwayne districts.

Light rainfall is anticipated in most parts of Somaliland with chances of moderate rainfall in the central parts of Ceerigaabo, Borama, Sheikh , Oodwayne and Ceel-afwayn districts. Most parts of Zeylac, Lughaye and Baki districts are likely to remain dry.
